However, there is a level of nostalgia that many parents still look for when shopping for children's toys. They want to see the toys of the past and the present meld together into one unit. To get you thinking here are a few of the most loved and famous baby toys.

The Bounce, Bounce Baby, invented by Bright Stars, is an all-in-one activity center that was built off of the walker platform. The seat rotates and is fully stocked with toys, lights and sounds to keep a baby amused and occupied. The "bounce" zone allows the baby to dance to the music while staying confined in a space for busy parents. The invention has been all the rage as of late.

Shape sorters and stacking rings have been around for years and there is good reason; they amuse babies. This old-time toy has been rehashed, redone and reinvented each decade to meet the latest safety standards, but it has been a part of childhood history for decades. The simple design allows kids to learn and play as they see fit. Born from a need to provide cheap and easy entertainment for kids at the turn of the century this is a true toy that will never go out of style.

In 1968 the "Corn Pop" was introduced. This simple toy urged kids to push to elicit the popping of small balls in a clear bubble delighted youngsters for decades. It has continued to delight and different incarnations have been born. They come in the shape of brooms and vacuums and today include lights and even music. The concept, however, has remained the same.

Nerf Balls are another classic toy. They come in all shapes and sizes and have delighted children of all ages since the 1970s. Kids today can still enjoy a myriad of different Nerf toys and even babies have been known to love the soft, pliable feel of Nerf. Basketball, baseball, football; it doesn't seem to matter- kids love them.

It would be remiss if Teddy Ruxbin was not mentioned. During the 1980s the talking bear who read books hit the scene with a frenzy. Parents loved that the toy talked and read to their children and since then many other automated toys have been created to delight young children. Tickle Me Elmo is based off of the same concept.

The good news with kids’ toys is simple for inventors; fixing up an old classic and adding new technology to it makes it new again.
