Dining Inventions of the Future

With technology moving at a fast pace, everything is changing--including the way we eat and dine. Most people look forward to eating at their favorite restaurant because they can experience a hand-made and personally prepared meal that is signature and one of a kind. As we progress toward the future, machines and robots may take the place of many facets of the restaurant and service industry. If you are an aspiring inventor, you may witness firsthand how fast technology is making changes toward a more simplified dining experience.

Imagery Advancements

Our world is about visual experiences. As we look toward the future, imagery in combination with electronic sensory programs can help us interact remotely or from different locations. This allows for a faster pace ordering system when you go out to dine at your favorite restaurant or dining location. Interactive tablecloths or tabletops will allow you to see food combinations, smell samples, and get nutritional information instantly. Common questions can be answered through a voice activated system and if needed, contact with the chef or wait staff is an additional option. Billboard interactions and ordering food ahead of time via a touch screen or voice activated program is also a promising advancement that we can look forward to in the next 5 to 10 years. Programs will need to be tweaked and matched based on customer feedback and touch-screen technology advancements. Because many people do enjoy the interlacement with wait staff, imagery technology may be intertwined with human service to simplify the process and reduce customer wait time considerably.

Satellite Dining

Do you ever wish you could dine at your favorite sushi bar on the outskirts of Hong Kong, but getting there would take quite a few hours via plane? Satellite dining inventions of the future of the future could change that. Being able to order and interact with your favorite dining hot spots via a local kiosk or computer application could mean you will be eating a delicious egg roll in a matter of minutes. Delivery options or pick-up locations scattered throughout metropolitan areas could make your late-night cravings a reality in the very near future.

Robotic Service

Long gone are the robots that appear like R2-D2 and other metallic android movie stars, robots can resemble humans very closely or mask themselves within an object or wall while totally interacting with your demands and what they are programmed to do. Heading out to your favorite eatery in the future may be totally different when the hostess meets you at the door. Is she really a young 20 something, welcoming you in to your table for 4? Look again--technology will be so advanced that she will appear very human-like asking you what your dining needs are for your stay. Food will be prepared at triple the speed it currently is by hand with the assistance of high-tech restaurant machines linked into computer technology that instantly processes an order and begins creating a menu out of pre-advanced prep work.

There are several technologies that have yet to be invented when it comes to the hospitality industry. Robotic and computer advancements will combine with technology and new ways to cook and prepare food. Food that is engineered in laboratories will also cut back on delivery and processing delays as we advance into the future. While even human error can cause a rough patch in the enjoyment of our dining services, we have a long way to go in order to combine human behavior and interacting into the computer-driven future of the restaurant and food business. Although a work in progress, dining inventions of the future promise to be convenient and speedy.
