Davison Inventions Rule the Pet World

Of all the products that Davison has designed, some of the most successful ones are enjoyed not by people, but by our pets.  In recent months there has been a great deal of exciting news about some Davison-designed pet products that have been flying off shelves in stores around the world.

Last August, two products that Davison created for clients and licensed to Hugs Pet Products won Retailers’ Top Choice Awards.  The Silicone Dog Treat Pan was the idea of a client who wanted to provide a healthy alternative to store-bought treats.  It was a top vote-getter in the competition sponsored by Pet Product News International.  Coming in as the third-highest vote-getter in the competition was the Better Tether.  Davison developed this product for Ed, a client who wanted to create a better and more humane method of tethering a dog outdoors.  Ed’s invention has been sold in numerous online retailers and he has made a profit from the sales.

In December 2011, Davison-designed Pugz Shoes for Dogs made quite the impression on the market when they hit the shelves at Bed, Bath & Beyond and on Meijer.com.  What started as a client invention that was licensed by Hugs Pets Products was featured in both retailers’ advertised holiday deals as well as in various YouTube videos which show adorable dogs trying out their new shoes for the first time.  Pugz have been featured at CNBC online and have been sold by Amazon, Groomer’s Choice, CSN Stores and about a dozen other online pet retailers.  Due to the success of the shoes, Hugs has also worked with Davison to create a line of Pugz Tennis Shoes.  This allows dog owners to make their dogs more fashionable by switching up their look from time to time.

Davison started this year off with news that two of its innovative pet products were set to be launched overseas. Orders were placed for over 18,000 units of Hydro balls, bones, saucers, fetches and rings in the United Kingdom.  Just when Davison thought it couldn’t get any better, Wal-Mart Canada showed interest in the products and ordered over 18,000 units.

Also being ordered in big units are Grass Twine Bird Houses and Bird Feeders.  Costco Canada has already ordered four containers of the eco-friendly products and if they are well received, the retailer has plans to order three to five more.  Costco is also considering bringing the product to the U.S. market.
One of Davison’s most successful inventions of all happens to be a pet product as well.  The Cool Cot House was invented by Sharon, who often went camping and wanted a comfortable shelter for her pets to use.  She worked with Davison to create a water-resistant tent with a vented roof, raised bed and mesh cot designed to keep pets cool and dry.  Sharon’s Cool Cot House was licensed by Hugs Pet Products and has sold in SkyMall, Sam’s Club and several other retailers.  She has shared her story on Lifetime TV’s “The Balancing Act” alongside Davison CEO, George Davison, and has made a profit on her invention.

Sharon has already been presented with one of those huge royalty checks, but her invention continues to bring good news.  Hugs has received orders for the Cool Cot House from Australia, and they are currently in the process of shipping the products across the world.

A typical project does not result in a license agreement, sale in any stores or profit.
